Thanks to Philip, Peter and Capt. Kerry.
Re Capt. Kerry's point the hose is not above the engine.
It discharges into the bilge at the bottom of the engine
a few inches above the engine mounts.
The sea water flows when engine is running and stops when
the engine is shut down, so it's working as it should.
I will do as Philip has done and redirect it to a cockpit scupper,
so as to eliminate/reduce the rusting effect the sea water has
on the keel bolt nuts and metal items at the base of the engine.
Per Peter the hose apparantly has a loop to stop any backflow
should the cockpit get filled with sea water, and I will
check that.
Thanks again - Mike.
