Thanks and I do have the evidence that I paid tax. In fact, in Georgia you have to pay tax every year on the boat. I pay that tax in the county where the boat stays. Now I will have to change that to SC.

Our research and experience has demonstrated two things to us.
1. always carry proof you paid sales tax (somehwere) when you purchased the
boat.
2. if your underway and don't stay in most states beyond 30 days your not
liable to their state registration because your a transient and the boat is
documentated.
We went through this mess with our new 44ds and after trying to fine us,
the Michigan DNR backed off, after we proved we had paid sales tax, but were
an "underway" vessel with no specific homeport.
Each little "fifedom" has their own rules as they apply it to
boaters.........
Good luck,
Rit

I still have problems with the state requirement. I documented my T30
about two years ago when I did my refit. I still did the Georgia
registration because no one gave me a good answer if it was required. Not
even the Georgia Department of Natural Resources. Now I am moving the boat
to South Carolina so maybe someone here can help with the requirements. I
have been told that different states require different things.
Anyone know?
Thanks
