Yes, real-estate is at a premium. I have a companion way swing out that already has a backup depth-finder and CARD display. I am thinking about mounting the chartplotter on cabin top under the dodger. I would then take it in when not in use.

available for most everywhere. I've got a 3006
without the charts, but chips for the whole West Coast
from Mexico to Alaska were only around $600. You can
buy blank chips and a CD and download the exact charts
you need. Of course you have to pay for unlock codes
for each set you use off the CD after the first one.

Since you've already got Raymarine might just want to
stay with them. Interfacing the plotter with your
autopilot would probably be a lot les of a headache.

The advice about getting a Radar compatible display is
excellent. If you decide to add a radar later, all
you'd need to do is add the antenna as you'll already
have the display. On a T30, realestate for a bunch of
electronics is probably at a premium.
