How well a swedge fitting is done has nothing to do with the tendancy for water to collect in the fitting around the lay of the wire and corrode and over time crack the fitting.
I just dont like them in a possition where this can happen. I have no worries about them facing down.

Don't worry about a swedge fitting. When they are done properly they
are bullet proof. Inspect the swedge fiiting when you pick it up at
the rigging shop. It should be perfectly straight with no curve to it.
Make sure the rigging shop has the proper machine for doing your swedge.
