    Mike,

The concept behind the Spin-Tec's design is to remove the halyard
after the sail is hoisted, therefore there are no complicated
mechanisms or heavy loads imparted on the system. Less stress on the
sail means no need for heavy reinforcement patches and large grommets
and a longer life of the sail. Straps at the head and tack are
sufficient. This makes the first turn easy no matter what the
    conditions.
The unit is made of stainless steel and not cast aluminum or plastic.
Probably why they can warranty it for life.

The carrier is easy to use. I wish you could see it in operation--very
    impressive.

    Normandie

lean toward the spin-tec although the whole top hook thing with the
carrier that rides up the foil is a downfall.
