I still think warmly of green eyed Blanca Lucia who worked at Rosa's. She was on board with us as was Rosa accompanying the skipper, while anchored in the estero when we blew off the small shore (Black Powder) (1 inch ball )cannon at the finish of the panga (canoe) race from the pier around the point to the dock in the estero... We were out of fuse and I twisted up a paper one with black powder at the skipper's insistence. It spurted when lit into my face and blinded me. Blanca Lucia cared for me for 3 days.... 2 days longer than I needed, but she was so lovely and so caring I kept saying she should stay. I still have 2 small black dots on one of my eye lids from the incident. Later we left after about 2 weeks, but the anchor would not come up and the electric windlass started getting hot. Bob dove down in the murky water and found the chain had become wrapped around a set of railroad wheels and axle with the tides going in and out every day. Stanley's sent over his work boat
with a larger winch and we were able to save the anchor. Bob was sick for about 3 days after with dysentery from the dirty water we thought.....

Yes, Rosa's is still there (not a customer, satisfied or otherwise,
just a passer-by ;-)
