    Thanks for the input.

    To start with, no racing in my future, we are talking a heavy displacement cutter rig cruiser.

    The greatest reason I could see to purchase one of these is price and owner installation. The major brands have quoted me in the range of $3500. More than twice the cost of the Aledo and many require that I replace or modify my 3 year old head stay and require a closed turn buckle and swedged fitting rather than the Stalock fitting and open turn buckle I have now.

    All that being said, I will likely bite the bullet and buy a major brand..needing two units this will be a major part of the budget and I need to save anywhere I can. Looks like the watermaker will have to wait.

      I have used a Profurl for 13+ years on my Spemcer 53 sloop and have
      been very pleased with it, cruising and racing.
