    Kathleen,

I have installed a ramp on my HR to help me on and off on days my back
is giving me trouble. Mine runs from the stern gate to the main dock.
I have spring lines adjusted to keep the ramp on the dock as the water
rises without intruding too far when the water is low. That is working
quite well for me, and better yet since I removed the wheel from the
pedestal to make getting past easier.

On your Caliber the split backstay should make a nice attachment point
    for bracing lines.

I'm not sure about rigging a handrail, but someone handy should be
    able to help you there.

If you don't mind the cost, there are a number of manufacturers of
very nice fiberglass and carbon fiber passarelles that have very
secure fold-up handrails and elegant fasteners to your toe rail. I
    think they run around $1k.

best of luck with your recovery. dave
