[world-cruising] routes and times for S sails in GOM

Interesting stuff from Visual Passage Planner. It shows what I have
always believed, the fastest way South to the Keys from Alabama is to
head SE and follow the counter-currents. The next fastest, almost as
fast but less hassle is just a straight SE course to about 60 NM off the
    tip of FL.

Those who subscribe to the idea that a coastal following route will be
faster due to abiatic (SP) winds will find it takes them almost twice as
long to get there. Not to mention the shelving makes lumpy seas, the
traffic, and a possible lee shore.

The speed profile is for my boat, only 20' LWL, so not bad for that size
    boat.
