Anchors? Away .... WOW ......? a never ending topic.? Seems like? all of us? either really like our anchors, or are looking for? help? in picking? out another as we are not happy with what we are now using.
So, the reason for so many different suggestions, each of us has our own personal results based on many subjects.
Where do we use our boat.
World traveler / Bay use / ICW / Bahamas / etc.
Experience in boating.
Type of boat / Heavy displacement sailboat or trawler / Express type / Fishing boat of many different sizes.
Dock most of the time, and only seldom anchor, and then never overnight "on the hook".
Each of these issues (and others) have to do with what is the best anchor (and rode) for our own personal use of ground tackle.
I have used a Wasi Anchor for the last 10 years (3 different boats) and have found it to be the best all around anchor that I have ever used.
43 foot Grand Banks Eastbay.
30,000 lbs.
25 Kg (55 lbs) Wasi, with Power Ball attached to the Chain.
100 feet of Stainless Chain.
250 feet of Nylon rode.
As the Wasi is all Stainless Steel, all the bottom stuff just slides off on the way up. If not, just hanging the anchor just below the water line and going in reverse, removes what ever is left.
Never once have I had any bottom stuff on the fore deck, or have to use an anchor wash down.
Lot's of use between Canada / Maine / parts of the Great Loop / Bahamas and all costal waters of the East Coast including the Chesapeake Bay / Delaware Bay / ICW / all of the state of FL.
Mostly a scope of 3 to one is plenty other then in any wind over 25 knots.
When only using some part of the 100 feet of Chain, use a Nylon "Snubber" to secure the ground tackle to a cleat.
When all 100 feet of Chain is deployed (very seldom), I just tie off the Nylon rode to the same cleat.
Interesting site that talks about many of the new type of anchors.

PS. have nothing to do with any MFG or Dealer of the Wasi, just a satisfied user, base on my type of boating.
