I originally had a 4 burner stove with an oven, and I never used all 4
    burners at the same time.
I live aboard and about 15 years ago I replaced the 4 burner with a 3 burner
w/ oven. I do use all 3 burners during dinner parties, but I suspect that
for daily meals a 2 burner would probably do just fine.

Here are a few things that I found helpful:
My 3 burner has one large burner up front and two smaller burners in back.
The large burner is great for anything that requires a large pot, or a large
    frying pan.
I looked at "marine" stoves, all stainless steel, beautiful but they were
very expensive. I bought an RV stove w/ oven, w/ stainless steel front for
1/3 the cost of a marine stove. I have used the stove for 15 years and have
been very happy with it when offshore at anchor or in the slip. No rust or
corrosion issues. But, if money is no object then I would go with the
    beautiful marine SS stove.
If your stove does not swing quickly enough to stay level in lumpy seas then
add some weight to the bottom of it. It's amazing how that helps.

    Kim
