In defense of our fellow sailors who are using the PSS Dripless Shaft seal.
They were probably not aware of the GoreTex or Teflon packing at the time.
When I first heard of the PSS Dripless Shaft seal I was also very interested
in it. I did some research and discovered the Teflon packing and that the
Coast Guard was using it at that time; they are now using the GoreTex
packing.
I just checked the price for the ¼” GoreTex, it’s up to $19.25 plus
shipping……….
