    I can only speak for our own experience, which may be different from
    yours...

    Traveling from New Orleans to Venezuela, we used 2.5 gallons per day
    (9.5 liters/day) with 5 persons on board (4 female, 1 male). This was
    in a Lord Nelson 41 in January, no water maker.

    Same boat, same crew, from Venezuela to Denmark we used 4.2 gal/day
    (16 liters/day) in June/July, this time with a water maker. Showers
    were more frequent.
