    Hi cruisers,

after several years of absence we want to go long haul cruising again.

Used Navpak before (scan your own, CMap & ENC), but used it only for
own scans, got all paper charts from Hongkong to Venize.

Looking for a small (M)ARPA Radar, can not find one, Radar with ARPA
all have Plotter build-in nowadays, if anyone knows one, please let me
    know.

Now please tell me what your are using and what I see wrong:

Cartridges from CMap and Navionics may be used in plotter and PC, they
are free to buy and sell (if I leave Asia I'd sell the cartridge and
buy the next area). Cartriddge must confirm with plotter, for PC only
usage it only needs a reader.

CMap NT/PC and CMap MAX/PC come either with one dongle (bad) or can
only be installed in one PC (bad too) and worse, the are registered to
one software, if I upgrade to Maxsea or Raytech there is no way to use
my purchased portfolio, buy all again. If this is correct I just
    wonder who buys MAX/PC.

In old days CMap was preferred, how to they compare nowadays with
Navionics and ENC? Is there any locking on ENC's too that prohibits
free usage on different programs, but on one boat (for redundancy)?

Thanks for your input and help in advance (saves emails later ;-))

    Henry
