Good Choice Judy,
Now you have the piece of mind in the event you have to abandon ship. Hope you never have to use it!!!!!

Thanks to Phil for the comparison link, it was a great help for
concise info. Also thanks to Cam and Barry for your thoughts on this
subject. I tend to go along with Barry on this, if you must abandon
ship along much of the Coconut Milk Run that I don't think you can
count on quick rescue. Also, FWIW, we have a Zodiac 6-main liferaft
for just the two of us. We watched the last time it was inspected and
expired items were replaced. There is no food or water inside our
liferaft. (Cannot imagine adding the weight of a week's supply of
water to that heavy thing!) So we must carry those items in a
separate ditch bag.
We ordered a Pur Katadyn Survivor 35 last night to be delivered to our
permanent address in the states. We will pick it up when we fly home
from Panama for Christmas holidays. Might not be the best portable
watermaker on the current market but it will suffice and was within
our price range. Hopefully we will never need it. If we do then it
will be worth whatever effort is required to make it function.
Thanks again for the responses.
Judy
