    Thanks to Phil for the comparison link, it was a great help for
    concise info. Also thanks to Cam and Barry for your thoughts on this
    subject. I tend to go along with Barry on this, if you must abandon
    ship along much of the Coconut Milk Run that I don't think you can
    count on quick rescue. Also, FWIW, we have a Zodiac 6-main liferaft
    for just the two of us. We watched the last time it was inspected and
    expired items were replaced. There is no food or water inside our
    liferaft. (Cannot imagine adding the weight of a week's supply of
    water to that heavy thing!) So we must carry those items in a
    separate ditch bag.

    We ordered a Pur Katadyn Survivor 35 last night to be delivered to our
     permanent address in the states. We will pick it up when we fly home
    from Panama for Christmas holidays. Might not be the best portable
    watermaker on the current market but it will suffice and was within
    our price range. Hopefully we will never need it. If we do then it
    will be worth whatever effort is required to make it function.
