Bryan,
Read the original posting again. It states:
"I am new to this group. I have reviewed several months of previous
comments and topics, Perhpas not enough, but I don't see anything
related."
I suggested that he search under the different terminology since he
had not read the extensive posts earlier this year on this very
subject. That should not be construed as harsh. Possibly you did not
like my opening comment of "here we go again." And just like the last
time, seems to be the same ideas being brought forth mainly by the
same people, so there we did indeed go again.
The keel stepped proponents and the deck stepped (or cabin stepped to
use the latest terminology) proponents will not be swayed to change
their already-made-up minds. As others have stated, this single
design feature should not be the deciding criteria. It is just one of
many personal preferences regarding boat designs.
As for your comment that you found the sailors you met to be the most
generous and helpful people you found, I generally agree with you. We
have met some wonderful people out cruising and as relative newbies
have been helped many times by these people. We have also met some
sailors who fall into a directly opposite category. We avoid and
forget those people.
I certainly did not intend to offend the original poster. I still
believe he could find plenty of info (or at least plenty of opinions)
by searching the previous postings by the term "deck stepped mast."
