Aloha, my name is john myles i sail a 33 ft cat out of hilo hawaii my
mooring fee is 1.00 a ft = 33.00 a month not bad for this day and age.
I am hoping to find some like-minded sailors to participate in open
ocean sailing.Considering hilo's modest fees and favorable climate i
thought it would make a good base of operations however i am open to
any and all suggestions.
Possible courses:
1 May 1 depart hilo for west coast of North America
2 June 1 depart west coast for hilo
3 July 1 depart hilo for west coast North America
4 Aug 1 depart west coast for hilo
5 Nov 1 depart hilo for fanning isle and return hilo
6 Jan 15 depart hilo for fanning isle and return hilo
Each members sail one course per year and different course each year
All courses are sailed on same vessel owned by a limited liability
corp to be created by the members.
At present there are 2 farr 1 ton 40 footers well equipped and in
very good condition available on the internet at www.boats.com for
39,000.00 each listing brokers tell me these vessels can be had for
25,000.00 to 30,000.00 if 6 members invested 7,000.00 each we would
have 42,000.00 enough to start and have an emergency fund.
My home is located 6 miles up the coast from hilo harbor mooring
feild which is visible from my front porch i just finished an
addition which houses a vacation rental and bed and breakfast i
mention this not to get customers but to advise i have room to assist
sailors arriving or departing from hilo by air or sea and help
provisioning.
Hilo international airport is 5 miles from mooring feild i can
provide transport to and from.
