The TransPac starts in July, if that's any comfort.
The hurricanes almost never go above the latitude of
the Big Island. They've done it twice in the 30 years
I've lived in Kona. When they do, they go south of
Hawaii and then curve up drawing a bead on Kauai. If
a hurricane did decide to effect your sail, you'd have
plenty of warning and could just hang out waiting for
it to dissipate. You can sail safely to Hawaii at
almost any time of the year once clear of the West
Coast WX.
