NO VOLTS needed it is a pump driven by the wheel ARM POWER - in fact the
pump shaft tends to be the shaft the wheel is mounted on so the pump and oil
reservior is behind the wheel.

Sounds like these hydraulic systems are operating while in pure
sailing (non-motoring) mode. How are these puppies powered? Is there
a 12v pump with a healthy accumulator? Please don't tell me you run
an IC engine while sailing to turn a hydraulic pump just to have easy
steering.
If it's a standalone 12v system, who makes them? Cost? I might want
to adapt one of these to our 17m wood boat(house) on the Amazon (power
only--no sail, but I can dream).
