Here's what worked for me.
In the Annapolis, MD area, there's a singles group that has a sailing
problem. Locally known as SOS or "Singles on Sailboats". I joined shortly
after my divorce, and never again needed to look for crew or was lacking
social opportunities. About four years after I joined, I met a wonderful
lady who loved to sail and to whom I've been married for ten years.
Together, we and other SOS members have sailed all over the East Coast,
including Nova Scotia, and to Bermuda. Other members have ventured much
farther, even including a circumnavigation.
There may be a singles sailing group in your area. Or, if you're based in
the Chesapeake, check out <http://www.singlesonsailboats.org/mc/page.do>.
Members include sailors of all skill levels, within both genders.
