Chuck ,, your boat ..the name is "soulmates"?

Have you thought about changing the name to "no-mate".

You are lucky ... what if you were half way to Antigua and she decides she wants out?

Then, the only salty thing to do is run the cutlass through her and put her over the side for the fish to share.

I may be a tarnished old single guy but: women are useless on a boat. They complain constantly. And the older they get the more pathetic they are on board.

Reading your posting was painful. You supported this B.....h and what does she do? Leave you for the $$$$$$.

She never wanted to go sailing. She just kept up a good show, letting you support her.

If I were you ,, I would get her a subscription to Latitudes and Attitudes magazine. Then send her a picture of you, your boat "no-mate" and that nice young lady who is sooo helpful that you met at the local watering hole in Barbados.

I sure am glad I never bought into the marriage trap.

"for better or worse" .. yup... worse, worse, worse, ..

Mike -- sorry to hear it but same thing happened to me but i was
within months of leaving - we lived together for almost 8 years - took
sailing lessons together, seached and bought a boat together, planned
together, learned to work as a team, and while she was having trouble
working i supported her, and when she said she needed one more year
before going cruising i agreed and held off as i lost my job and
decided to retire early - then she got a job promotion and a 6 figure
income - when that occured she said bye bye as the money was more
important to her - i even took my time in selling the house and now
have to sell it in a down market -
but i did a few things right as the boat is able for short hand
sailing - but i had not prepared mentally to sail alone and now
working on that - i sail as much as i can single handed now to prep
    myself -
by the way my house just sold and i am trying to sell my furniture -
my boat, a Jeanneau DS40, is almost ready to go - just need to add
some solar panels and an ssb - i will go up the east coast to get out
of the hurricane area and then to the islands for the winter -
i know from wence you speak and can only say good luck with your boat
    search -
