Very popular offshore cruiser...heavy displacement...lots of exterior wood,
which requires frequent maintenance...average build quality...like most
Taiwan builds of the 70s-80s, metalwork (castings and tanks) are the weak
points...tank removal/replacement is often impossible...many different
interior layouts; if you see one you like, you may never see another that's
identical.
Pros: very good offshore capability for the $$
Cons: high maintenance, especially woodwork and metalwork.
Finally, I've said this before but it bears repeating, the condition and
capability of boats more than 10 years old are the product of the boat's
owners, not its builders. For a boat as old as most Tayana 37s, it's
impossible to make generic statements with accuracy, because every boat will
be different.
