I was just planning my routes from Sitka to Juneau and then down to
Port Townsend for this spring. I think that Puget Sound doesn't hold a
candle to Southeast Alaska. From Haines to Ketchikan is quite a bit
longer than from Bellingham to the southern end of Puget Sound. I
think what can be said comfortably is that the inside passage from
Puget Sound to Haines is one of the longest routes of inside waters.
But, hey, I was just messing around doing some route planning. I am
sure there are a lot of other areas that could qualify as "inside
waters" such as the European canal systems, Great Lakes.....as
mentioned, it's all how one defines an "inside water"!
Good luck sailing Puget Sound....I may see you out there this summer!:)
