    Pete,
    Good points.

However largest inland waterway, in the strictest sense of the phrase would
not allow any water that opens onto the sea, unless it was a flowing river,
then the waterway stops at the brackish mouth of the river.

    Smiling here too!

    Rit

After getting a big grin on my face, The great lakes
are indeed large, but I think that Rit was thinking of
protected waterways. I have not compared the milage
on the ICW, all the way to Texas, to the inland
passage to Alaska, hey I'am lazy. But I assume it's
quite a bit longer. Now that this has been brought up
I know someone on this bord will figure it out. I
also keep the boat in Olympia Wa, . The up side,
Lower rates and closer to home, Great uncrowded
anchorages, and great people. The down side of the
South Sound, not much wind most of the time, or when
there is wind it's allways on the nose both ways, Two
days of motoring to the San Juan Island group, and the
2-7 knot currents that can tax your piloting skills. I
once took the ferry across Lake Michigan, from
Manatowik WI, to Ludington MI, and It was like beeing
in the south pacific on a good day, small swell, long
    interval, nice trip.

    Just smiling,
    Pete
