    For boats that are federally documented, there is a Coast Guard form to
    remove the vessel from US documentation. Website with some info is here: <
    http://www.uscg.mil/hq/g-m/vdoc/nvdc.htm>. There is a contact link there
    for additional info, if necessary.

    For boats that were never federally documented, but only state registered,
    the state may have some procedures. Each state will be different.
