It may be true that it is not COLREGS that require the red anchor light
as it is shown in what would be inland waters, right? But by the same
token it cannot be FAA either as that is for US only, correct? So why is
it NOW that they are showing up? Change in rules somewhere? Fad?
Ignorance? Or have they always been there and just not noticed? Or maybe
it is that there have not been that many boats with such tall masts
before?
Somebody needs to ask one of the 'red lighters' and get to the bottom of
this! ;-) -Ken
