    The hanks aren't likely to be big enough to go over the foil but a
    light line that goes through the hank or grommet in the luff and
    around the foil at each hank, then tightened at the foot would work
    OK and be be pretty foolproof--if it caught on something on the foil
    it could be slacked until the sail came down.
