That is exactly what Beneteau told us specifically not to do. We
had always locked the prop in reverse when sailing. We had a Yanmar
with the ZF. Beneteau said to allow freewheeling and never to lock
the prop. This was the standard factory installed fixed prop. Like
so many other things involving boats, there seems to be no absolute
even among the supposed experts.
