I have a 45# CQR on our SO49 and began having trouble setting the
anchor. We were in the BVI and never had this happen before. We
dragged twice, the first time it reset itself; but had dragged about 100
yards. The second time we were hit by a sqaull at night and I was
awakened by the wind and rain. When I went above to check out our
situation we were moving, of course towards a shallow area; this was in
    Virgin Gorda Sound.

When we got back to the marina I had been speaking to a few captains and
one told me to check the pin that the anchor rotates on, it could be
worn. He said what happened was that the anchor sits to one side and
because the pin is not circular any longer it tends to set on one blade.
I know he was right because I checked the anchor the first time we
dragged and I had to dive and set it because it was leaning to one side
and it could not be set by reversing the engine.

I checked the pin and found that it wasn't cirular any longer, it had
been worn out into an oval shape. It was replaced with a new Delta
    anchor.
