    If there's a formula, I'm not aware of it. All I know about staggering the
    rollers was to allow each anchor to be deployed without fouling the other.

    The snubber at the base of the bobdstay is a permanent attachment. When not
    in use, the free end is brought aboard and secured in a location near the
    anchors. I think they'll only work on chain, though. While you're
    spending the last of your kitty on electronics, consider keeping your
    primary anchor on all-chain. You will discover that the added strength and
    the reduced scope will save you bacon - among other things - more than once.

    If you decide to keep a rope rode, put some effort into reducing the chafe
    potential of the bobstay. Definitely a piece of PVC (not split) slipped
    over the wire so it acts as a roller will help. Yes, that requires you to
    dismantle and re-attach the bobstay. It's worth the effort; far superior to
    having an anchor rode chafe through in a storm.
