If you can see the colors you will see that Alberto intensified once it reached the ocean around the Chesapeake

I think if Alberto had strengthened and gone back out to sea from
inland NC where it was on the 14th, it would have come over us (here
in the Chesapeake), and it did not. However, there is no reason to
assume that there wasn't other storms out there, and it was just that
Alberto was most recent in people's minds, so that's what it was
called.

RYI I'm involved as a consultant in the publication of a guidebook on
the Florida Keys. I made a note when I was proofreading the MS that
the Rebecca Shoals light was gone the last time I was down there. The
editor called me yesterday and asked if I was sure about that, and I
said that I had looked for it and did not find it, and was told that
it had been destroyed during the 2004 hurricane season. He called the
CG twice and both times was assured that it was there, and there was
no note in the light list.
Finally he got through to the person who is in charge of the ATONs in
that area, and he gave him a list of ATONs that are missing or off
station - about 50 of them. One of them was Rebecca Shoals. Some
were scheduled to be replaced, and some were not.
