      Ahmet,

Two racing tricks to clear the lifelines:

    1. Tack slowly and sheet in hard before the jib has a chance to get
    over the
    lifelines.

    2. If the jib is over the lifelines, momentarily come into the wind
    enough to
backwind the jib. Once the jib is back inside the lifelines sheet in
    hard and
quickly tack away from the wind. You should have enough way to get back
    on tack.
Of course if you blow it you get to try your tack all over again :)

(who has blown lots of tacks in races)

GOSH well - when racing give one of you crew the job of tending to the
foot of the Genoa as you tack - and then concentrate on a smooth tack-
maintaining boat speed through the tack without having to think about
the genoa catching on the guard rail - that seems to me so obvious that
i cant think why you are not doing that.

HOWEVER the problem is the genoa track not being long enough to sheet
the foresail properly - i would either put in another section of track
(my prefered solution) OR the pad eye solution - then use a double
sheet using your nromal genaoa track and car and the second sheet to
control twist and draft on the foresai. As to the position inboard
that would be in a straight line projection from the existing track
Using a double sheet means your poistioning fore and aft of the pad eye
wont be super critical. However you are going to have to beef up the
deck underneath the pad eye and probably remove the core as well which
is why i would recommend a second length of track to spread the loads
and just use a small hole saw to revove the core at each fixing
    position.

    regards

    David
