This is for the hard core sailors and racers amongst you

My regular genoa is a 155. To use in heawy winds, especially beating, I purchase a new heawy material 100% jibb.

When I set this sail, the trim line (drawn onto the clew) is pointing to a point about 6 feet ahead of the end of my inner track.
Since this is a storm sail, and only 100%, I decided to use a heawy duty folding padeye, instead of a third track or possibly extending the track.

The question begs.. how far inward should I install this padeye, or track.
It seems to me that the more inward on the deck, the better I can sheet it close hauled, and the more of a chance it has to clear the top of the lifelines.

If the clew gets too twisted on a beam reach, I can always install a block with a snap shackle onto the stanction base (I have no toerail)

What do I loose by having the shackle too far inward ?
