Alright, I just finished sailing a new-to-me Lagoon 37 from FL to WI.
It has a ProFurl furler on it. My previous boat(though smaller) had a
Harkin that I helped to install. Traveling with me for a portion of
the trip was a Jeanneau 50 mono. It too had a Profurl. Both were
damaged while the masts were down for the Erie canal crossing Lake
Oneida so I have actually taken 2 different Profurl furlers apart now!
:( He was happy with his, I however am not impressed so far. the
sealed bearings on mine are shot and not serviceable so it looks like
I'll have to buy new ones. Generally, it seems to be physically
heavier (yes I know its a bigger boat!) but not correspondingly
stronger built. Just adds lots of mast weight! If I have to replace
it I will go with Harkin. My Harkin furler is well designed(solid but
not neces heavy) and has performed flawlessly since I got it.
On Laptops I use a Panasonic Toughbook. It has been rock solid and is
waterproof and shock proof. I carry a cheap "normal" laptop as
backup. The internal motherboard on the toughbook is coated to make
it resistant to corrosion.
