I was going to post on this subject as I did not like the usual splice (all
the line passed around the first link) and used a eye splice and shackle
method with all its drawbacks. However I do like the "long" splice
illustrated in the blue moment link. Makes sense. Easy to inspect for
chafe, with attention the construction of the splice the strain on the
three strands can be made equal and no 180deg bends to reduce the strength
of the line..
