If you are looking to join a yacht club simply to get acceptance at foreign yacht clubs, you don't want to spend a lot of money. Check with the St Martin Yacht Club in St Martin. They have no sponsorship requirements and have very low costs for membership. We were there this Winter and saw several people join & avail themselves of cut rate Yacht Club Membership. We are already members of a yacht club at home which we belong to for local reasons. It's a legitimate yacht club which hosts the Heineken Regatta every March in St Martin. You should be able to find them on the web. They deal in US currency on the Dutch side of St Maarten.
