First I've heard of them. Interesting.
When I took Gordon West's weekend course a few years ago, he highly
recommended the "Outbacker" antenna as an alternative. This one clamps to
the stern rail and does not require an antenna tuner, but you do have to
attach a lead in the appropriate receptacle for the band you're using.
