Interesting and scary. Were these all separate incidences over the years, (In the 60ies and 70 ies there were many problems with catamarans)
Were these racers... cruisers ? Trimarans ?

I believe an acquaintance of mine has provided the best statistics
regarding cruising mortality in cats versus multihulls. Mind you this
is heresay, but this particular salty old-timer has 40 years of
cruising experience in most of the worlds oceans. He'll remain
nameless since I don't have his permission to quote him, but since I'm
on Hawai`i Island maybe some of you can guess?
In any case, he has personal knownledge of a total of 19 persons lost
at sea - all friends and acquaintances.
18 of those lost at sea were in cats.
One person was cruising a monohull solo...
I don't have the breakdown on solo vs. multi-person crews, however.
It seems clearly safer to slow down and take your time.
