The hull could be installed backwards. The prout cats are pointly at both ends!

Seriously though , you seem to be right. I'd contact Bennerau and see what they say.
Although not a major issue, it may contribute to a rig loss in a extreme situation. At a minumum, I would get aluminum plates to fill the gap.
