It may be - but i hate to say i am not a fan of the Prout style of cat
narrow beam with the mini main and the big foresail though this rig does get rid
of the 'cant reduce sail issue' i see they are now offering a 'conventional'
cat rig as an option. Never had a problem outsailing a Prout cat for sure they
are not fast. Now in saying all of that Prout cats must be one of the
most travelled cats except of course for the R&C cats which are all delivered
straight out of the South African factory afloat (some Prouts or a Prout
lookalike made in SA too) so with the number made and the delivery miles under
their keels it would not surprise me to discover that they are leading the miles
sailed league - though that said i am sure that if it is cruising miles
measured and world cruising too then Prouts must be up near the top if not
actually at the top. Just not a big Prout fan - as to how we could find out about
the Prout cats out in the Fastnet Storm - i cant imagine that they were racing
and actually in the race or for sure that would have been publicised
somewhere - i will look into these two cats - seems surprising that Prout themselves
did not highlight this - never heard about that myself - i wonder if this is
genuine or just folklore where did you find this information?
thanks and regards
David
