    I tend to favor spreading out systems rather than "all in one's", even
    if everything were to be from the same manufacturer.

    That said, if I were buying "just" a radar today I'd go for the Furuno
    1600 or 1700 series.

    But if you want a radar you can network in handily then the more
    powerful Furuno "1834C NAVNET VX2" is worthy of consideration. It got
    top rating in the next (May) Practical Sailor tests. You can buy the mag
    or just a copy of the test from their web site
    (www.practical-sailor.com).
