That has happened to Bob also, and he also lost a partial plate out of
his pocket while tying the boat up.
I had my glasses knocked off my nose by someone who threw me a line as
we were casting off from the dock in Nassau and my glasses when into
the harbor. After I got Bob to stop (he doesn't hear well), we went
back into the slip and when the tide stopped running, we could see the
glasses on the bottom. The water was clear enough that the self
darkening lenses showed up against the sand. We got them out with a
pool net.
After that, I put one of those glasses retainers on my glasses when
I'm aboard. I don't know what it is called, but it hooks to the legs
of the glasses and goes around the back of the neck.
Bob wears trousers with zip off lower legs and cargo pockets that zip
or button up. He puts all that stuff in those pockets which are both
less likely to be upsidedown and also more secure.
