and the closest thing I've been to cruising since is the overnight
Super Ferry from Manila to Cebu. My sailing experience would be
evenings spent staring at the sailing photos taken in my last life.

My idea in attending that original ASA class was to reintroduce
myself to sailing and boats. Seven years previous the sale of my
Seward 24 brought and end to my maritime ways. Retired now at 61 and
again I dream of the life of a kicked back long range cruiser, well
anyway till I get home sick or seriously sea sick.

As a pretty handy guy who spent a good part of his younger years on
or around boats, should make buying an older used boat a practical
and affordable possibility, even on my limited budget.

However, before I jump and make the person commitment of a boat
purchase, once again I need to get my sailing and cruising skills up-
to-date, especially now that I'm a solo sailor. Sailing schools,
clubs or whatever you think off would be of help. Along with ideas
on buying an older, used boat and where to keep it in the San
    Francisco bay area.

Just for reference I'm a transplanted Midwesterner now living in
    Sacramento. Thanks, Doug http://vietnam-now.com
