The military approaches this issue assuming the realistic possibility that a
pilot in the water could be injured and unable to endure continuous pumping
requirements. I could see a similar situation when a boat is abandoned.
Every "solution" has its positive and negative aspects. Probably the safest
path is to choose redundancy.
Again, for the record, I just discovered this product after reading a local
newspaper article. I have no connection with the company and I have no
experience with their products.
