    WHAT!!! Where are you located that it is illegal to sail single handed?

    Thanks to all for their invaluable advice.

    I managed to moor stern to without too much damage to my yacht or any
    other. I found that the biggest problem is the wind. Without that I
    could do it fairly slowly, always taking into account the awful
    handling when going astern.

    If nothing else, I think that lots of owners will now give me more
    space when they see me coming!

    Something else I just discovered - it's illegal here to sail single-
    handed, even in the marina! What a load of crock!
