Hi Phil,
It's good to know that folks are out there sailing and having a great
time with less preparation. There is so much to learn and master!
I liked your practice ideas. I didn't think of sailing in a figure 8.
That's a good suggestion. Sounds like were will be pretty busy the
first few weeks learning how she responds in different situations.
We've talked about practice docking over and over again. I'm curious
to see how all this practice will evolve. Important, that's for
sure. We will have one or more GPS. I'm curious about celestial nav.
Right now my head is swimming with Navigation stuff. Just started the
Advanced part of the course: set/drift, etc.
I found learning knots somewhat of a challenge. I have a book that
gives a good illustration on how the basic knots are tied. I kinda
wish they had better illustrations when they were teaching the basic
sailing course. I passed over the splicing part of ropes. Oh goodie,
something else to learn. Guess that is what sailing is all about:
constant learning.
I'm looking forward to using the pressure cooker. From what I've
read, lot's of interesting meals can be prepared.
Thanks very much for taking the time to pass your ideas and experience with me.
Cheers,
Sharon
