Hi Ruvane,
The secret is to have all your docking lines ready. Have a short sternline and a spring line from the middle or front third of the boat ready at the stern docking position. The springline is important as it will keep the nose of the boat from swinging out into the harbour.
You also need to take into account any current (usually not) and wind direction and strength. The bigger heavier the boat, the easier it is to dock (momentum is a wonderful thing).
First get your fenders, fender board out. (and on the right side too).
Motor your way into the slot slowly.
Throw the motor into reverse and give it a good blast to almost kill your momentum (this you will have to discover for yourself).
Turn the wheel tiller at the final moments so you parallel the jetty (just like parking your car).
Abandon the wheel/tiller (scary the first time you do it), move to the side of the boat and place your stern line and spring line over an appropriate piling, cleat, etc.
Walk to the front of the boat and place the bowline on a piling, etc. You may find that the nose is too far from the jetty. In that case you could have the bowline available at the stern of the boat from where you can walk it forward or available at the springline where you should belable to step off the boat.
Take a few practice runs to the jetty with the fenders out to practice your approach without docking first.
To leave untie the bowline, then the spring line. Let the bow nose out into the harbour, cast off the stern line and motor out.
Of course there are many variations to this. Use your imagination and have fun.

Does anyone have any good techniques for mooring single-handed to a
jetty?
Bow or stern to?
Any good tricks that you'd like to share?
Thanks,
Ruvane.
