You go up between Great Camanoe and Little Camanoe. Absolutely do not
attempt to go west beneath Little Camanoe; that is the area that is XXX'd
out on the Moorings charts. You likely will see other boats going through
there; DO NOT TRY IT. It requires very shallow draft boat and LOTS of local
    knowledge to get through there.

You come out of Marina Cay as if you are going over to Trellis Bay. Turn
right and then turn right again. You will then see the pass between Great
Camanoe and Little Camanoe. Must motor, very narrow, and is against the
current, but never a problem in summer months. Just stay in the center, and
have your camera ready. Beautiful pass through there. After you get
through the pass, DO NOT TURN LEFT until you are even with the southern edge
of Lee Bay on your right on Great Camanoe. You should not turn left until
you reach this point because there are submerged rocks off northern edge of
Little Camanoe on your left. Sometimes you will see waves breaking over
them, sometimes you won't. Even in the calmest conditions, you should be
able to see the rocks approximately every 4th surge of the "waves" there.

After you turn left and go west over the northern topside of Little Camanoe,
then you will be heading to the little pass that separates Tortola from
Guana Island. Go that way to head to Jost Van Dyke.

BTW, Lee Bay is a wonderful anchorage during summer months. Only room for 2
or 3 boats. Anchor in the center, almost on the beach, as it is a deep
area. Marvelous snorkeling on the right (south) side of the bay. NEVER go
there during winter months; it can be horrendously rough then.

    Enjoy your trip.

This groups was so incredibly helpful to me recently when I had charting
questions, I figure I'll through this one out. Once again, it's probably
    silly
stuff for many of your seasoned cruisers. But I'm loving this stuff and
learning more every day. Thanks in advance for your patience.

I'm working on my plan for my upcoming BVI charter. Planning to spend a
night at Marina Cay, then on to Jost van Dyke.

I've ready about going through the Beef Island pass. But we're chartering
with The Moorings, whose planning chart has the whole thing marked
    off-limits.

Has anyone had experience with this situation? Am I to sail north around
    the
top of Great Camanoe, and back down? Is the pass that dangerous? Navigable
    under motor?

Any insights would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again!
