While it's a narrow passage, there's lots of room (big enough to turn
around in and sufficiently deep right up to the shore except in one
spot). It's well protected and weather shouldn't be an issue during
transit. It's not restricted for use when chartering with the Moorings.
If you're looking at heading to Jost Van Dyke and go around Camanoe,
there's no need to turn back in - simply stay on the outside all the
way.
BTW: Monkey Point (just after the passage) is a decent day anchorage
with decent snorkeling. You might find it a great lunch stop on the way.
Cheers,
Mike

Subject: Re: [world-cruising] BVI Beef Island/Camanoe Pass Question
Thanks, Mike. That was the kind of first-hand experience I was hoping to
hear. That passage (which on the chart appears much narrower, but
"cleaner") was what I was planning to use. I guess is weather's dicey, I
could always head north to the windward side of the island and come back
down. But it'll add a lot of time to the day.
Thanks again!
Keith
